The lead up to any Major Championships is always an exciting time, but for the Commonwealth Games, to have it in your home Country is even more thrilling. With only 10 weeks until the Australian Nationals and the trials for the Games, things are starting to get serious with competitions almost every week.
As well as trying to qualify individually, I am lucky enough to be a part of the 4x400m relay squad for the Commonwealth Games. We met up in Queensland at the Runaway Bay Sports Complex for a relay camp, where we went over some baton changes and talked tactics.

When I am not in training or in competition mode, I like to help out where I can especially to those that have helped me constantly. I was lucky enough to have been invited to the Coogee Island Swim last weekend where I got to start the main 2.4km Island Swim Challenge.
It was a great day and many got involved. Can’t say I’ll ever swim that far, but I’m in awe of all those that did, it was a great effort.
On another positive, last Saturday I ran a B qualifying time for the Commonwealth Games, running 23.29 just 0.03 outside my PB and only 0.19 from the A qualifying time. One step closer to making the Australian Team.
