The Comeback Road

Last Saturday saw the successful return to the track by Jessica Thornton in the Athletics North Queensland All Comers Championships Open Female 400m sprint.  It was by no means near her normal running time, but that was always going to be a big ask as she fatigued to the line in 54.47s in warm conditions.

This in fact was her first 400m run since November 2016 and only her second competitive race this year due to injury.  Jessica showed all her competitive qualities as she not only finished the race, but also won it, obtained a season time and proved a gracious comeback despite lacking her match fitness.

Hey Jess, any comment?

Jessica will remain in the warmer climate of Townsville this week under the watchful eyes of her coach Michael Dooley as she ramps up her training in preparation for her next challenge at Newcastle on Sunday 9 July 2017 in an effort to be considered further for the World Championships Australian 4 x 400m relay team.  Jessica proved yesterday that with a couple more runs under her belt and some hard training she will be back to peak competitiveness in the near future.

Trans World Sports showcased Jessica last Thursday on Fox Sports.  Please find below a link to the story on You Tube which has been slightly altered from the original because of Olympic copyright issues.
