Getting the Job Done in Perth

Coming into Perth, I had already run 3 qualifiers for the 400m at the World Junior Championships but I had to win the final at the Australian Juniors to ensure my spot in the Australian team.  It was a quality field and being drawn on the inside meant I had to chase early.  Getting to the front around the 200m mark I just concentrated on my technique running home into a slight headwind and finishing strong to win the race in a qualifying time of 53.04s.

Although not running in the 200m in Poland I still wanted to win the Australian Junior Championship title and a hope of a Rio qualifier.  I found myself in good rhythm leading into the straight and despite a slight head wind again, I was able to finish it off in a meet record time of 23.47s.  Not quite what I wanted time wise but another Australian title all the same.  And for what it’s worth another World Juniors qualifier for the 200m.

Finishing it all off, a great 4 x 400m relay win with the girls.  Going into the last leg my job was made much easier by the team led by Bella O’Grady, Olivia Cason and Tessa Constantine. Well done team, Australian Champions!

So the Road to Poland becomes a reality.
